Society of Oncology, Patna Bihar, in association with AIIMS Patna & ABSI organised its 04th Annual conference SOOCON-2018 on 14th & 15th April at hotel Maurya and Chanakya Patna.


The theme of this year meeting was " Enhancing Diagnosis, Emerging treatment for Evidence-based Approach in Oncology."


In this Conference, our objectives were to “Impart knowledge on Breast Cancer, Lung cancer, G.I. tumours and Hematological malignancies and future development in Oncology fraternity" through exhaustive deliberations. Thus, leading to the generation of evidence and building of consensus by experts in the field.


In this conference 25 national faculties participated prominent among them were Dr R A Badwe Director TMH Mumbai, Dr Diptendra K Sarkar, President ABSI from Kolkata Dr Somashekhar S P, Vice President ABSI & Director Dept. of Surgical Oncology Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, Dr Vikram Chaudhari- from TMH Mumbai Dr Sapna Nangia-from Delhi Dr Dinesh Pendharkar-from Mumbai Dr Murad Lala-Hinduja Hospital Mumbai, Dr Rahul Bharghava-from Delhi Dr Reena Nair- TMC Kolkata Dr Madhuchanda Kar, & Dr Sandip Ganguly from Kolkata and many others.


On day one we discussed Colorectal & Breast Cancer.Prelunch session was dedicated to radiotherapy & pathologist whereas post lunch session started with debate followed by a talk on Robotic Surgeryand panel on Rectal cancer. The Breast session started with video presentation demonstrating MRM/ BCS & Sentinal Node biopsy. Followed by talks on Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, Current & Future Innovations for management of Breast Cancer & then talks on medical oncology was followed by high powered panel discussion on LABC. Dr R A Badwe spoke on “FUTURE OF ONCOLOGY” which was dedicated to Dr Amitabh Singh memorial where as Dr Murad Lala gave a scintillating presentation on how he conquered Everest which was dedicated to Dr A D Singh memorial.


On day two venue of the conference was shifted from hotel Maurya but due to some unavoidable circumstances we were forced to shift to Hotel Chanakya which results in less no. of participation for 1st day approx. 220 where as the next day were had 125 delegates.


Overall 220 delegates and faculties participated of which 120 were registered delegates. There was poster presentation in which 7 doctors participated & presented. Poster session was examined by 3 outstation faculty. Best poster was awarded to Dr Aphrodite Chakraborty 2nd to Dr Ashutosh and 3rd awarded to Dr Kunal Kishore. The 1st received cash prize of Rs. 5000 2nd Rs 3000 & 3rd Rs. 2000 each, consolation prize of Rs 1000 also given to 3 doctors.


There were delegates from major medical institutes of Bihar who participated: PMCH, NMCH, Mahavir Cancer Sansthan, PARAS HMRI, IGIMS, Medical Collage Muzaffarpur, Medical Collage Darbhanga, Medical Collage Gaya.


The valedictory function was marked by enthusiasm & complimented to all the people who contributed in the conference.
